About me
I am a twenty-seven year old photographer from New Carlisle, Ohio and I was born in Wharton County, Texas. My mother migrated north (Michigan) with her mother three years after I was born. During this crazy move, my mother took the chance and ended up staying in Ohio in hopes to find a better future. Growing up in Ohio as a Mexican-Amerian was not always a, "walk in the park". Being around adults who looked down on an individual because of their heritage caused me to rebel and begin to, "deface property". Graffiti and music were my only escape from the real world because it allowed me to express my emotions through different forms of art. The local authorities and the law were against all of the defacing I was doing, which led to my mother to be extremely disappointed in my actions. As time went on, I attempted to take up painting. That way I didn't have a reason to disappoint my mother anymore. With all of the traveling, I was able to see a lot of neat and beautiful sceneries. My drawings never came out like what I was experiencing with my own two eyes. No matter how much I practiced, my drawings never got better. This led me to question, "how can I capture something so beautiful that is happening right in front of me without having to draw it?" A light bulb went off in my head! It was around 2010 (when I was in high school) where smart phones were coming out with, what I thought were decent cameras. It wasn't until 2016, is when I finally saved up enough money to buy my first camera. Ever since that day, it has been my mission to be able to show you how beautiful life can really be. I struggled with various issues my entire life; if I'm able to show someone an image that I took, and make their day a little bit better then thats all that matters! My name is Cruz Gutierrez,
let's work together!
